About MeMy name is Ethan Toyota, I am a National Board Certified Teacher with 10 years of teaching experience inside of the classroom. I first began developing professional development curriculum for teachers when I saw an interest for technology training inside of my school. Beginning in 2015, I had begun to develop curriculum for planning school community collaborative events based on my experiences in developing successful AVID event nights and a district-wide student film festival. My curriculum was eventually picked up by HSTA where I serve as PD designer and facilitator in addition to my professional duties as a video production teacher at Ewa Makai Middle School.

Nepris |
Guest speakers and industry professionals are avenues of community partnerships that can enrich a student's understanding of subject matter, inspire students to pursue a career field, or provide reinforcement of curriculum. However, seeking out such professionals in your area, with the content area expertise needed, and the schedule to match your classroom's can be a difficult task. Nepris is a Web 2.0 platform that allows teachers to bring in industry professionals from across the nation into their classrooms, on their own time. This course will explore the benefits of guest speakers, examine the power of Nepris, and walk participants through using the system. A 1 year platinum subscription will be included for trial purposes.

ESCC |
Effective School Community Collaboration or ESCC looks at leveraging school community partnerships to empower your classroom, curriculum, or school community. In this course, participants will examine the 5 core functions of Domain 6 in regards to the Teacher Leader Model Standards while reflecting on their experiences involving the school community. Participants are then asked to design an action plan using the course curriculum to build a school community collaborative event they will execute by the end of the semester. This course is an individual study of the curriculum; there are no classes, meeting dates, or online conferences that are necessary for participants to attend. Instead, participants are encouraged to work at their own pace while reaching out to the facilitator for assistance.
